The Ultimate Packing List

Welcome campers, players, and newbie’s alike!

We are so excited for Dirtybird Campout West in our new location - Modesto Reservoir Campgrounds!

To ensure you have the best time possible, take a look at our camping tips and cover your bases. We understand camping can be hard work and a bit confusing at a new venue, so we’re holding an AMA for ASK ME ANYTHING, Sept 27th at 12pm PDT here. If you miss this AMA, please email us This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
The flock is growing every day, so get excited to embrace all of your bird homies old and new! The most important packing tip is to bring your good vibes, unique style and serious moves and get ready to unleash them all on the dance floor at Campout. Get ready to fly with the flock and boogie till you drop!

Here are some packing tips so you can successfully eat, sleep, boogie, repeat…

Keeping Yourself In Check

  • ID and printed ticket
  • Clothes for all weather occasions – Modesto is hot during the day and night time temps get low! I would even be prepared for rain. It’s happened! Bring rain gear and layers for for warm days & cold nights.
  • SOS (Save Our Skin): Eco-friendly, Biodegradable, sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen. Plus, bring a hat! (AVOID these ingredients in your sunscreen: PABA, octinoxate, oxybenzone, 4-methylbenzylidene camphor and the preservative butylparaben!)
  • Insect repellent & topical itch cream – the bugs are real out here!
  • Bandana (we provide at HQ games), scarf and sunglasses to protect yourself against any dust
  • Comfortable shoes (you’ll thank yourself later): boots, sneakers and other closed toed shoes are ideal. Pro-tip: extra socks for nighttime!
  • Toiletries + shower shoes: for the not-so-dirty campers.
  • Your own unique style!

Resting at Campout is Crucial to Rallying

  • Tent + hammer or mallet and heavy duty stakes!
  • Air mattress or cushion of some sort
  • Pillow
  • Warm blankets & sleeping bag
  • Ear plugs & eye mask

Camper Home & Kitchen Essentials

  • Throw some shade: EZ Ups & other shade structures make a world of a difference!
  • Rain-ready camp set up – extra tarps, rain flys for your tents!
  • Reusable Water bottle or Canteen – if you forgot your canteen, stop by the merch booth and get you an Official Campout one!
  • Water for Camp! Please come prepared with H2O for your camp’s drinking, cooking, and washing water.
  • Lighting: flashlight, LED string lights, headlamp, lantern – PLEASE NO GLOW STICKS!
  • Tie it down: tape, rope, zip ties, bungee cords
  • Snacks (like fruit, dried fruit, trail mix, nuts, granola bars, veggies, hummus, crackers)
  • Cooler + Ice (ice will be sold in the campground plaza throughout the weekend)
  • Backpack: skip going back to camp for supplies, pay a day-pack with snacks & essentials for those long days exploring all Camp Dirtybird has to offer!
  • Baby Wipes/sanitizer: for when you don’t wanna shower.
  • Soap: if you have dishes or utensils to wash. We recommend Dr. Bronners, sold at most drugstores!
  • Vitamins and prescription medications (with prescription)
  • First Aid Kit: if only we were invincible.
  • Towels for when you get so dirty on the dance floor, a shower is inevitable and showering in the lake is not allowed.
  • 1-Ply toilet paper: because you never know.

Sustainability Essentials

  • Reusable Water Bottle!
  • Trash bags – YOU are responsible for your camp’s trash! Pack it in, pack it out!
  • Pop-up/collapsible trash bins so you can Sort Your Stuff! Trash, compost and recycle labels for your camp’s trash.
  • Limit waste by bringing reusable plates, cups, and silverware if you’re cooking and eating at your camp!
  • Rags/dish towels and non-toxic soap for washing.
