We’re incredibly sad to hear that inappropriate behavior at music festivals has come up in the news again. We would like to take this time to clarify where we stand as a community.
To be clear, the Dirtybird Campout has a 'ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY' for any form of sexual harassment.
We are a fun-loving community and to be sure everyone has a safe, joyful experience at our event we need to respect, look out for, and take care of each other.
We encourage many kinds of creative self expression but please remember to always get consent before touching others - without exception.
Consent is an agreement between people that are properly informed, are not under coercion, and are not incapacitated. Clothing, nudity, sleep, friendly conversation, and intoxicated behavior are not consent.
Consent is when both parties clearly, enthusiastically, and actively communicate with one another to establish mutual boundaries (and desires!) — and these boundaries can change.
If you or someone you know are experiencing harassment at the event, please reach out to a member of our team as soon as possible. We have a support system surrounding you at all times at the Dirtybird Campout - medical, security, rangers, counselors in training, and anyone wearing an official staff shirt (even Claude VonStroke) can help you.
If your birdie sense is saying something isn’t right - we, as a community need to protect each other. If you see something going down, tell someone immediately.
Most importantly, be kind to each other. Respect your peers and have an outrageously fun time at Dirtybird Campout.
